Don Rickles Biography

Don Rickles was an American actor, comedian, author as well as stand-up comic. He was well-known and highly regarded entertainer. His quick wit coupled with hilarious remarks and genuine concern for his audience created an unstoppable mix of fun, laughter and entertainment. Due to his amazing ability to make an insult sound funny and inoffensive he was a regular at celebrity roasts. His crude and hurtful remarks attracted attention, but the recipient would always laugh. Although he started out as a typical comedian, with scripted jokes in his mind, he soon realized that his impromptu remarks were much more appreciated than the prewritten material. His unique style won him many admirers, including Frank Sinatra. In addition to appearing in numerous films and TV shows, he had released two comedy albums. He was awarded numerous honors including a Lifetime Achievement Award at  The Comedy Awards. Don Rickles was only able to land small television roles after his graduation. His stand-up comedy began as an opportunity to earn income, and he later developed his "insult comedian" brand. In the 1970s, he began by playing a key character in the film "Kelly's Heroes" (1970), starring Clint Eastwood. He also made appearances in television comedies like 'The Don Rickles Show' (1972) and 'The Dean Martin Roasts' (1973). Barbara Sklar was Don Rickles his wife on the 14th of March, 1965. The couple had two kids: Mindy and Larry. Their son died in the year 2011. His best friend was Bob Newhart and the two often vacationed with their wives. They had appeared together on many shows, including "Newhart", and Don Rickles died from kidney disease on April 6, 2017 at his Beverly Hills, California, home
